1) Kartikeya

According to an incident in Shiva Purana, after the death of Mother Sati, Lord Shiva started rigorous penance. At that time, the atrocities of the demon Tarakasura started increasing on the earth. Troubled by the atrocities of Tarakasura, the gods went to Brahma ji and asked about liberation from Tarakasura. Brahma Ji told the gods that the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati would kill Tarakasur. After this, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married and Lord Kartikeya was born as their first son and the demon Tarakasur was killed.

2) Ganesh

According to the story mentioned in the Puranas, Goddess Parvati was about to go for a bath, but there was no one to guard the door, so she created a child from a mixture of sandalwood and asked to guard the door, meanwhile when Lord Shankar came there, the child stopped him from going inside. Angry Lord Shiva separated the child’s head from the body. When Goddess Parvati came to know about this, she became angry and to calm her anger, Lord Shankar attached an elephant’s head to the child’s body, thus Lord Ganesha was born.

3) Sukesh

Sukesh is the third son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is mentioned in the Puranas that the demon king Haiti was married to a girl named Bhaya. They both got a son named Vidyutkesh. Vidyutkesa married Sandakantaka, the daughter of Sandhya, but Sandakantaka was a bad woman. That is why when their son was born, she left him homeless in the world. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati protected Balak and made him their son.

4) Ayyappa

Lord Ayyappa is known as the fourth son of Shiva. According to the Puranas, Shiva was fascinated by seeing the Mohini form of Lord Vishnu. Lord Ayyappa was born from the union of Mohini and Shiva.

5) Jalandhar

According to the Bhagavata Purana, Lord Shiva once threw his third eye into the sea and Jalandhar was born from it. Jalandhar hated Lord Shankar. Once Jalandhar started a war with Lord Shiva to make Mother Parvati his wife, but Jalandhar was killed in this war.

6) Bhauma / Bhuma

It is mentioned in the Puranas that once Lord Shiva’s sweat fell on the ground and from this sweat the earth got a son. This son had four arms and was of blood colour. Earth raised this son. Being the son of Earth, he was called Bhooma.

7) Andhak

In the Puranas, it is mentioned about the seventh son of Lord Shiva that once Mother Parvati came from behind and closed the eyes of Lord Shiva, due to which the whole world was covered in darkness, then Lord Shiva opened his third eye to remove the darkness, Mother Parvati sweated due to the light of the third eye and a son was born from the drops of her sweat. This son was born in darkness, hence his name was Andhak. This child was blind from birth.

Lord Shiva has three daughters. Their names are Ashok Sundari, Jyoti or Maa Jwalamukhi and Goddess Vasuki or Mansa. Mention of all these three daughters is found in the Shiva Purana. Out of these, Vasuki, the third daughter of Lord Shiva, is considered to be the step daughter of Goddess Parvati.

Ashok Sundari – Ashok Sundari, the elder daughter of Lord Shankar, was born to Goddess Parvati to relieve her loneliness. Goddess Parvati wanted the company of a daughter so that she could stay with her and relieve her loneliness. It is believed that Ashok Sundari was very beautiful and talented like Goddess Parvati and that is why she was named Sundari. Goddess Ashok Sundari is worshipped the most in the state of Gujarat. It is also said about Ashok Sundari that when Lord Shiva cut off the head of child Ganesha, she hid in a salt sack out of fear. Because of this, her importance is also associated with salt.

Jyoti – The name of the second daughter of Shiva-Parvati is mentioned as Jyoti in the Puranas. It is believed that she was born from the radiance of Lord Shankar and she is the form of his halo. However, another belief related to her birth has also been told. According to which she was born from the radiance that came out of Parvati’s forehead. Another name of Goddess Jyoti is said to be Goddess Jwalamukhi. She is worshipped the most in Tamil Nadu.

Goddess Manasa – Devotees seek refuge in Goddess Manasa when they are bitten by a snake. It is believed that she was born when Shiva’s semen touched a statue of Kadru, the mother of snakes. Therefore, she is also considered to be the daughter of Lord Shiva, but Manasa was not born from the womb of Goddess Parvati like Kartikeya. Another name of Goddess Manasa is Vasuki and she is considered to be very short-tempered due to being neglected by her father, mother and husband.
